I had a security door installed by one of your contractors in April I've had problems since then I have been trying to call him for over a year and can not get in touch with him. I know he has had family situations so I have been calling Quaker since then I explained my problem every time I called and they told me the owner would get back to me It was actually a surprise.
With the original windows, we were supposed to get aluminum clad outside and vinyl inside. Instead these are aluminum clad outside and wood inside. I like how they fill the opening more and won't need a cased return on the inside. They seem attractive from the outside too. I know that they are builder grade windows, but I was curious what experts like millworkman or JDS thought? It's a fairly dark window for that performance and spec i.
Low-e without grids. Air infiltration numbers aren't "great" but they aren't bad either. DP numbers are middle of the road.
If you like the look of them, that is good. I didn't read the whole thread. Where is the home again? Why are you giving them carte blanche to order windows without you approval? Is this a new build? Developer or Tract type home? I apologize as I do not recall your particulars but I know you have posted about the construction prior.
Thanks for your feedback. I'm following this thread with interest. We are pricing replacement windows for our 99 year old home and one dealer recommended Quaker Brighton series. Interestingly, they're manufactured about 5 miles from where I grew up. Anyway, JDS, I appreciate all your research, but you noted in your post above that the aluminum cladding on the Brighton is roll formed. I am seeing on the website that it's actually extruded aluminum.
I am not an expert - am I mis-reading the specs? Would love a second opinion We had Quaker windows installed less than a year ago and we couldn't be more disappointed. They re extremely cheap, the windows and sliding doors we have never close right, and I'm not sure if it's from the heat we've had in Chicago but our screens seem to be warpping and do not fit correctly anymore. I wish our contractor let us pick the brand of windows because I would have never went with these.
I'm so disappointed to say the least. HU what brand of Quaker? I see that you have used QuakerWindows in your custom homes projects. We have a custom home in Durham, NC with 13 windows that have failed. We are trying to determine if this is a fluke or a larger problem. Could you please let me know if you have had seal failure in any of the Quaker Windows you have used in your projects?
I do not believe Quaker manufacturers there own IG units but either way IG units typically care a 10 year warranty for the glass from most all major glass fabricators. No labor for installation however. I would reach out to Quaker as that many and if under warranty should be an issue they will help you with. Of course you never know for sure. That unfortunately is typical unless you can hound them enough that they give in, especially since it appears the glass may have been bad.
We've had Quaker windows for less than 4 years and have had significant issues. This was new construction and the Brighton windows. Quaker has given a hard time because we do not have the original PO from the builder, but have agreed to replace glass no labor included.
We're about to have all Quaker windows and sliding patio doors installed in our house, Brighton wood aluminum-clad. We know nothing about windows, it was our contractor who ordered those for us.
The contractor did not let us have a say in what to order. Reading the feedback here makes me really nervous. J Gold - please search for my contact info and send me a message - if we band together we can engage the manufacturer to replace these.
Have found a few other folks with failed seals as well. R L , did you end up buying the Quaker Brighton casements? Found your post while doing my own research debating on purchasing the same and wondering if you have any feedback.
I just had 3 replacement windows put in! Pure junk! The bugs are getting in under the screen. Cheap Cheap Cheap! I have not paid yet. Not sure I am. They took my other windows.
I am Furious. I have one casement. Have to push to side in the middle. Otherwise it comes off track. These are Junk! Replacement windows!

What I've heard is generally good. They are a small manufacturer out of Missouri and there are just too many small manufacturers to track.
For me, you always go with the manufacturer that you know over one you don't. The fact that the Soft-Lite quote is lower makes this an easy decision. Soft-Lite is in my top three vinyl window manufacturers when it comes to quality and craftsmanship.
Where do they fit in the line up? Any important difference between their Manchester and their Crusader series? Milton - Homeowner - from [Site Editor's Answer] Milton, there are hundreds of window manufacturers and Quaker windows have never entered our review boards.
