Amd ahci driver v1.2.1.292 for windows vista/7 32bit 64bit.whql

Raid0 Problems Thanks a lot to whoever checks this out. I'm having problems with installing Windows 7 on my pc. I started out with a gb velociraptor as my OS drive. I found my mobo manual and followed the directions from that. When I go into the windows 7 installation It doesn't see the Raid drive. Any ideas for why? I basically follwed the directions given in the manual.

I started the windows 7 setup and no drives were available. Any help would be very appreciated. Right now i'm just running off of my GB Velociraptor.

Last edited by DJones09; at AM. Welcome to the ROG Forum! Are the two SSDs the same? At least their controller is the same? I'd prefer to give more details, but it has been years since I needed to use third party drivers during a Windows installation, and that was for XP. XP needed an F6 key press, and the drivers had to be on a floppy disk. The KB article that you cited about switching drivers in an existing WIndows installation may only work in switching between Microsoft drivers. And this is what is default and standard operating procedure for a standard boot drive and the following.

I think we are starting to get this narrowed down from the resources available. I am still not quite sure how to procceed and it is maybe in part because i havent just jumped into it and i am not wanting to just jump into it before i have all the facts and the standard operating procedure steps for a standard install. As you're doing a new Windows installation, I suggest doing it straight into the mode you wish to be in.

If you are worried about malware on the old HD, erasing the partition on it should clear it. There are some viruses that are supposed to be capable of modifying the drive's MBR as well. The MBR can be rewritten, but I've never done it. At the risk of getting personal, you appear to be overthinking this.

Extreme caution is needed when you are in danger of losing critical data, but that doesn't seem to apply here. I think this is the point i or we have been trying to get to. I am concerned that there is some surious problems with the Hard drive now because just before teardown i was getting Bsods left and right.

Just out of curiosity, did any of those systems require AHCI drivers other than those included with Windows 7? I was thinking maybe i could load all Asus drivers during windows installation for a moment there. I have read that windows installs an AHCI driver and it is an intel driver if i remember correctly. I just now got a response from Asus support emailed them responded within 24hours and it says;.

If you load normal updates sans SP1 and then install SP1, you have just installed redundant updates and wasted time. Installing SP1 first will automatically contain KB saving time and bandwidth. The chipset drivers are installed after Windows 7. They aren't required to perform the basic installation.

Have you ever installed Windows 7 on a system that required third party AHCI drivers for the Windows installer to recognize the hard disk controller? I'm pleased to say that I have not. From what i have been able to gather now is that it is a neccessary driver. I wish that I had a X board for testing. Since I don't, I'm trying to base this on what I've read.

Your HD is connected to one of those. Set controllers in IDE mode. Yout optical drive s go on 5 or 6. I don't recall the precise screen where you insert media with third-party drivers, but it may involve going to an Advanced button.

I still recommend preparing a bootable USB flash drive. That would sidestep any issues with the setting of the SATA controllers as regards to booting from the optical drive.

Installing Windows from a flash drive also takes much less time than from a DVD, so if you must experiment with multiple installations, you'll save time and avoid frustration. However, you mentioned starting the Windows setup dvd and loading the driver and then rebooting again to change the sata operation mode. This will not work since the drivers are loaded into memory, so the next time you load into Windows PE the setup environment the drivers will again be missing. From what I've seen in the pictures of your manual, connect your HDD to port 1 - 4, doesn't matter which.

Configure these as AHCI. During the setup of Windows, on the screen where you would select on which hard disk you want to install Windows onto, click on the "Load Driver" option in the lower left corner of the window. This will allow you to point to the AHCI driver, I would generally always download the newest driver myself but you can use the driver from the motherboard manufacturer as well.

Note; if you download the drivers you will need to extract them first before they can be found by Windows.

You cannot point to a folder that contains a zip or rar file and expect it to find the driver. For this reason I would generally opt to place the extracted driver in an easy to browse to folder on a usb flash drive.

Alternatively you can use it the drivers provided on the motherboard cd, but that might require some searching in the folder structure. After the driver has been loaded, it should display your HDD right away in the main screen of your Windows Setup. Something along the lines "Disk 0 Unallocated Space". If one of these posts answered your question or issue, please click on "Mark as answer". I have been wanting to ask how does one go about putting the windows 7 installer on a USB drive?.

Thankyou to them. Sevenforums is then also refering to the older XP, but the installer is still the same above in Windows 7.

Thankyou for responding Stephan Schwarz I agree this is getting long and i am not bothered by that becuase i am thinking of or working toward posting the initial question again streamlined with the screenshots. This is all that is said in the manual about installing an operating system other than the SATA mode Notice;. As for the difference of a optical and hard drive.

If you're installing Windows 7 from a DVD, you're using a optical drive. This will need to be connected to either port 5 or 6 which needs to operate in IDE mode. The first four can be left running in AHCI mode with the seagate hard disk attached. The default behaviour to enhance SATA performance which is mentioned in your manual would refer that the bios default settings will incude all ports will be configured as AHCI.

Xp is not being supported by Microsoft any further from what i understand. Oh nice! Load the Windows setup from the usb device and then select the "Load drivers" option and point to the folder you stored the drivers in. See if the harddisk then appears in the menu "Where do you want to install Windows? I'm mystified. That does not explain why the Windows installer isn't detecting your Seagate Barracuda hard drive. Is it visible in the BIOS? I preferred this site before the author exchanged some simple text instructions for a longish video.

The text is still there, if you scroll down. Additional work is required from an. Stephan's post is easier to use, I'm sure. I would like to update this post I have now rebuilt the custom computer build and have learned that the AHCI driver is set as default. The computer has been up and going for a couple of days now and with the new motherboard things are so much better and the computer has been operating real good currently.
