I downloaded 3. I left it for ten minutes and then rebooted to download my free games without a prob i left it on over night downloading with auto switch off after download. I havnt tried to turn it back on im gonna give it a go later. Its definetly a firm ware prob to much of coincidence. If they dont sort it out i will be going to xbox. I dont get it, it seems the games are too advanced for the old consoles which is what i have a fat blck mofo if thats the case they should have not released a slim line just call t the ps4!!!
It was an immediate problem after the update and did not have to do with any new game etc. I am waiting for them to do the right thing here, but even if they do; I am still without games and blu-rays for the time being. Please urge the firm to do the right thing here. We can hope that they will do the ethical thing and fix the problem. A system update by definition changes the nature of the system and therefore can render it useless.
I updated my system like i normally would and my PS3 tells me that a serious error has occured. I try contacting playstation and no answer so I have tried resetting the whole system and nothing. I have always taken care of my ps3 dusted it cleaned vents take games out of it when not in use and I have a red screen! I just downloaded the new firmware 3. PS3 3. I noticed the heat from the vent was higher than I have ever noticed before. I personally blame sloppy programming of the latest 3. Current opinion — Zero. I am so annoyed! They know exactly what that patch does. When I turned it on, it flashed yellow, then red. I called Sony and they want me cover all shipping charges and pay dollars for a chance it may get fixed, if not I get e refurbished model and lose 4 years of data. Not very happy right now. Installed update 3. Started watching a DVD. Can play any game except uncharted 2 and cod. Beep 3 times red light flashes. All other games work fine. Sony are well pissing me off. I finally downloaded update 3. The way I see it there update busted my console so they should fix it or replace it.

Fat 60gb PS3 either stopped recognising disks or stuck trying to read the disk whilst playing, 5 days ago after 3. My console is currently with a repairer because I thought the laser had gone.

When i inserted the game , the playstation could not recongnize the game , as i thought this was weird. I put in other games.. Exactly the same thing…my boys were devastated. We tried everything restoring, even lost all their data trying to fix the thing. I am convinced it was the update. The DVD drive spins, but does not recognize the disk. We bought a new PS3 today. Got the same problem as most of all. It started right after i downloaded the firmware 3. To start with i thought i was just unlucky when i got the yellow light, 3 months outside of an extended warranty. Fair enough, electronics can break from time to time. I took the console to an independent and got it fixed, brought a cooling tray to stop it overheating again and fitted a variable resistor to control the fan, having it on high most of the time.
Downloaded and new patch and 2 hours later the console yellow lighted.. I have one of the very first original 60gb machines and have never had any problems from new. My console new slim gb freezes when watching the bbc iplayer Usually get video for mins and then it just freezes. When my past consoles blue rays failed it was impossible to get a game to load or even create game data to save on to the system.
I get freezing and loading issues with the error code B the dirty disc code when the game is brand new. My fat ps3 40gb bricked today! It froze after 2 minutes of play the shut off, with 3 beeps then red blinking light. I was playing my new Killzone 3 when it died. I updated the firmware as everyone else did on May It is 3 years old but never played more than hours a week. Sometimes I go months with playing games as I get real busy. His box was barely over 1 yr old.
It was a Best Buy refurb. My PS3 shut down playing L. I fired it up off a cold boot, installed the mandatory patch so I could play some GT5, and it shut down within minutes and was YLOD after 2 attempts at rebooting. Want to add myself to the list of affected users. Worked absolutely perfectly, no freezes, no crashing.

Although I had played Block Ops a couple of times after the update, the crash happened after watching Netflix streaming movies. It was dreadfully slow so I turned off the console. It just happened to me too. In the middle of installing the update, my PS3, which has always worked fine, shut down and I got the yellow light of death. Now it no longer works! What a ripoff! Sony is going to have a class action suit on its hands! Very screwed at this point with regards to game saves. I was playing fallout 3 because the network was down and couldnt play COD black ops.
Once the update came out I started to see a lot of freezing on Fallout 3 and would just crash. Now at the title screen it freezes. My PS3 is next to a window for cooling off when playing.

My 60gb over heats and freezes recently, So annoying … They need to start from scratch … Clearly their software has issues which must be so complex that its become hard for them to even locate the problem and cause security breeches that effect everyone! It started downloading but within a few seconds the PS3 just switched off. When I tried to turn it back on it starts up for a couple of seconds before the light turns briefly yellow and then flashing red along with the beeps. Same thing here. Me and my friends system. I have older one, he has newest one. Same thing. I noticed on mine, that it will not play a dvd that I just watch yesterday, the day before the upgrade. Now tell me that is a coincidence.

Sony, you need to fix this issue fast. I have the original 60GB, had it since launch My PS3 went off while listening to music, same yellow light then red light flashing. My 60gb unit crashed 2 days after the 3. I have a external fan pack on my ps3 to prevent over heating. I now have not video or audio on start up and the controllers will not connect.
Crashed immediately after 3. It is stuck on some type of update, background looks like it is on pause then screen goes black after it completes a cycle green bar from left to right. I have never had any issues until I updated to this 3. Very upset. I was not even playing a game… I was just watching a movie when it happened. I think Sony just sabotaged my console to force me to buy a new one.

A Noire and buying It for xbox what a load of shite Sony. Watched a bluray folm last night for the first tone sin ce the update. My 40gnarled fat console crashed 4 times. Ended up not bothering watching in the end. It got very frustratimg. PS3 slim GB, updated to 3. But it seems to startup, but then it beeps and flashes orange and then continuously red. I mostly use my PS3 as a mediaplayer, so no issues regarding games either. Until the update my PS3 slim worked perfectly. I have a 40 gig ps3 and after the 3.
Crashes 5 minutes playing uncharted 1 and also crashes when trying to backup data. More and more reports where coming in about there consoles crashing when playing L. Noire, but the funny thing was half the reports are from the Xbox fans.
