At the direction of the Department of Human Services DHS , the Illinois Crisis Prevention Network consists of highly trained professionals with extensive experience in the social service community. The teams are made up of skilled clinicians who work with individuals with severe behaviors and are struggling to maintain in their current home or placement. These behaviors can be difficult for families or staff to work with, disrupt their environment and can take an emotional toll on everyone living or working there.
Team members can provide strategies to reduce or eliminate these behaviors, training for staff or caregivers to cope and work effectively with the clients and help locate resources in the community. The ultimate goal is to move from crisis management to crisis prevention. We will be serving up to ten families a month for a total of twenty hours per family.

Screening and Comprehensive Diagnostics — Initial Screening - A clinical team member conducts a brief phone interview with the parent or guardian using a validated screening tool. At that point a packet will be sent to collect additional information about the child such as medical history, therapy reports and school records. Once the packet is returned a Level One Observation Screening appointment will be scheduled.
Level One Observation Screening i s an appointment where the child is observed by a clinical professional. The purpose of this assessment is to make a preliminary determination regarding whether the child might have the characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorder. This screening, however, allows us to determine whether the child should have further comprehensive assessments. Level Two Comprehensive Assessments includes a variety of assessments that are conducted by diagnostic professionals and clinical teams to determine if the child has an Autism Spectrum Disorder and where they may fall on the spectrum.
These assessments usually take several appointments and the child is seen by several different clinical team members. A diagnostic professional and clinical team member will review the final report with the parent s or guardian.
